Program Highlights

The MBA Applied AI for Business concentration focuses on developing effective decision-making in analytics, automation, strategy, governance, ethics, innovation and organizational change. Students learn to frame business problems as AI opportunities, assess data readiness, evaluate tools and workflows and develop recommendations tied to clear business goals.

The program’s robust curriculum includes topics such as: applied AI and data-driven decision-making, generative AI, intelligent automation, business innovation, governance, functional AI applications and change leadership. The concentration is designed to identify a business need, evaluate whether AI is the right fit, select the appropriate tools and processes, manage ethical and operational risks, and then implement and measure results in a way that supports organizational success.

As a graduate of the applied AI for business program, you will have the challenge of not only identifying opportunities for AI-enabled improvement but also helping organizations use those tools responsibly and effectively. Preparing You for the Real World

The MBA Applied AI for Business program provides a real-world study in all aspects of AI use in organizations, including identifying business opportunities, evaluating tools and data, designing AI-enabled workflows, managing governance and risk and measuring impact. Students learn how to connect AI to practical business goals and communicate recommendations in ways that stakeholders can understand and act on.

You will engage in hands-on learning based on current business needs and responsible use practices. In assignments and projects, you will explore how AI can support business innovation, automation and better decision-making across functions such as marketing, finance, operations and human resources. You will learn to work with low-code and no-code tools, generative AI applications and strategic evaluation frameworks that are increasingly relevant across industries. 

You will also sharpen your communication skills in executive memos, presentations and project proposals that translate AI opportunities into business value. Throughout your program, you will be guided by faculty who understand the opportunities and challenges of AI in organizations. With expertise across business and applied AI, faculty help students build practical knowledge in areas including:

Format & Sample Courses

FORMAT

On Campus – Offered in two terms per semester starting in January and August

Online Asynchronous – The degree program is offered in a flexible asynchronous online format in two terms per semester starting in January, March, May, July, August and October. Students are not required to attend live online classes on set days or times each week, and coursework can be completed within each course schedule and deadline structure. This approach gives working professionals greater control over when they engage with readings, discussions and assignments while still receiving structured academic support and faculty guidance.

Core MBA courses are offered online or on campus; remaining concentration courses are offered exclusively online.

SAMPLE COURSES

Foundations of Applied AI & Data-Driven Decision Making (AIT 612) – This course introduces artificial intelligence, machine learning and data analytics from a managerial perspective. Students learn how AI systems are used in business, how to assess data readiness and how to interpret outputs in support of decision-making. Hands-on work uses low-code and no-code tools to build a practical understanding without requiring a programming background.

Generative AI, Intelligent Automation & Business Innovation (AIT 620) – This course focuses on generative AI and its role in transforming business processes. Students explore prompting strategies, AI-enabled workflows and intelligent automation for analysis, content creation and customer engagement. The course also examines human-AI collaboration, process design and business innovation.

AI Strategy, Governance & Functional Applications (AIT 630) – This course examines how organizations align AI initiatives with strategy, governance and business value. Students study AI applications across marketing, finance, operations and HR while also exploring ethical, legal and operational risks. The course emphasizes responsible deployment, prioritization and executive-level decision-making.

Applied AI for Business Capstone & Change Leadership (AIT 642) – This capstone course synthesizes previous learning outcomes in the applied AI for business concentration through a final project demonstrating practical business application. Students identify an AI opportunity, assess feasibility, design a solution approach, evaluate governance and risk and create an implementation and change leadership plan. The final project focuses on measurable business value, stakeholder alignment and professional communication.
