no more excuses on corkboard

Every day, we talk to people just like you who are thinking about going back to school. Some of you are hyper-focused and won’t let anything stop you from moving forward in your career and life. Some of you have legitimate reasons why the decision to take that next step is a little harder – and, we get that!

No matter which camp you’re in, the team at Tiffin University can help. We know everyone is at a different place in their journey back to school, and we’re here to make the road as smooth as possible. In this two-part post, we counter some of the legitimate reasons—and easy excuses—that stand in the way of people pursuing a degree.

  • School is expensive. You don’t have to break the bank to get an excellent education. Even though Tiffin University is one of the most affordable private colleges in Ohio, more than 90 percent of our students receive financial aid—and it’s not always a loan. We also help students apply for grants, outside scholarships and discounts (e.g., military discounts, FOP discounts, alumni discounts, employer discounts) to ease the financial load of going to school.
  • I’m too busy. Just because you’re not ready to commit now doesn’t mean there will never be a good time. Tiffin University online classes start every January, March, May, July, August and October so you can plan ahead and easily integrate school into your life. Most programs have structured deadlines for Sundays and Wednesdays so that you always know when your work is due.
  • It’s a pain to get my transcripts. Applying to college is a process, but believe us, it’s worth it. Once you apply to Tiffin University online (there’s no fee), a dedicated admissions counselor will guide you through all the steps, including how to request transcripts and assess transfer credits you’ve earned from other institutions. Learn about our Transfer Process.
  • I thought going to school online would be easier. We can’t speak for other online degree programs, but at Tiffin University, our goal is to provide flexible, web-enabled courses students need to succeed in the real world. We tailor our programs to incorporate practical, industry-relevant skills so you can advance in your career and achieve your dreams. Almost every TU student will tell you it takes hard work and dedication, but it’s well worth the effort.
  • The program doesn’t fit my schedule. Almost all Tiffin University online degree programs start six times every year, in January, March, May, July, August and October, which allows just about everyone to find a time that works. And, with structured deadlines on Sundays and Wednesdays, you can schedule around those days.
  • I’m too old. You’re never too old to learn new skills or improve what you’re good at. A lot of Tiffin University students who are already well along in their careers pursue a degree to increase their chances of being promoted and/or earning higher salaries. Our online students’ ages range from the mid-20s to 60+ years old!
  • I’m in the military. First of all, thank you for your service. Tiffin University proudly welcomes U.S. armed forces members and veterans to our online and on-campus programs. We offer military tuition discounts to eligible retired military, Army Reservists, National Guard, active duty military and their dependents. With our 100% online programs, you and your dependents don’t have to worry about how a PCS will affect your progress in the program.
