Cyber security experts from around the globe to attend
The maritime industry, like every other segment of the US economy, is dependent upon technology for every aspect of its operation. Cyber threats continue to be present in today’s political and technological landscape, increasing the need for improved security measures. Cyber security experts from around the globe will descend upon Tiffin University (TU) to discuss the threats and challenges to maritime cyber security and the marine transportation system at the 8th Annual Maritime Risk Symposium (MRS2017) on November 13-14, 2017.
With a focus on the articulation of current and future maritime cyber challenges and threats, MRS 2017 will bring together local and federal experts alongside academics and industry professionals to outline the implementation and operationalization of a sound maritime cyber strategy. The symposium will assess threats, vulnerabilities and recent advancements in both attack vectors and maritime cyber security research to inspire ideas for innovative research that will define the next generation of maritime cyber space.
“It is quite an honor for a smaller University, like TU, to host this event after years of residency on much larger campuses,” said Scott Blough, executive director for the Center for Cyber Defense and Forensics at TU and national co-chair of the Maritime Risk Symposium. “I believe it speaks volumes to the strong reputation of the degree programs TU offers in cyber defense and the education we deliver to our students.”
The two-day event will be held at the Marion Center, on the campus of Tiffin University, and will also include VIP networking events, student/professional speed networking sessions and poster presentations from students at regional universities and from military universities across the country. Visit the Maritime Risk Symposium webpage for more information.
The Center for Cyber Defense & Forensics at Tiffin University is focused on improving the education and training of future cyber defense and forensic personnel. The Center enhances the cyber capabilities of educational, private and governmental sectors through training, education, research, services and outreach.
