What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?
I wanted to finish my degree and pursue a career as a teacher to prepare for retirement from police work.
Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?
I completed my Associates degree at Tiffin after a friend referred me so I could continue working full-time.
Describe your experience with the program so far.
This program makes distance learning easier than I expected. I’m able to conform it to my schedule and not feel like I’m giving up time with my family.
Everyone had been so understanding and helpful. I feel like I’m there on campus.
How are you juggling work, life and going back to school? Any tips?
Planning ahead is the most helpful way to juggle it all. Each week I find small periods of time in my schedule that I can set aside for school. It also helps that I have a very supportive family willing to give me the time I need to complete school work.
What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?
The thought of future and the feeling I know graduating will give me is what keeps me motivated. I also advocate to my kids to finish what they start and I want to be an example to them.
What advice would you give to a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school?
Search your heart, if it’s what you really want to do, don’t put it off. It’s difficult but it’s worth it.
TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?
The biggest risk I’ve taken was purchasing a house that had previously caught fire to flip with my husband. It was the hardest work I’ve ever done physically and mentally. But we doubled our investment and that one choice put me on track to where I am now, returning to school to eventually pursue a career I’ve always wanted.
