What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?
I think when it comes to college it’s important to know what you’re doing and have a game plan. As an adult, I have gotten to the point where I feel that I am ready to pursue a degree and that it is worth my time, money, and effort for my future.
Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?
Tiffin University had a direct transfer program with my associate’s degree that I received from Terra State. Tiffin is also one of the few schools that not only offers me the opportunity to get my bachelor’s degree completely online but also offers a dual enrollment program where I can also receive my master’s degree completely online. This is what I needed due to my constantly changing and hectic schedule.
Describe your experience with the program so far.
I have had a great experience with the program thus far. The ease in which I can access the classes has been surprisingly easy.
The faculty at TU is absolutely unmatched. They have a compassion and understanding for their students, even from a distance, that I can’t even put into words. As long as you communicate, the faculty is willing to work with you and without this, I would be struggling way worse than I am.
How are you juggling work, life and going back to school? Any tips?
Juggling everything is hard. I am currently attending school full-time, working two jobs, and am in the process of getting married. The most important thing is not only time management but having grace for yourself. Doing all of this I have learned that I am not perfect nor am I super woman. At the end of the day I am human, and I need to give myself the grace that everyone else is willing to give me.
What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?
I’m motivated to stay in this program because I have worked hard to get this far and giving up now is not allowed in my book. I push myself very hard and that’s part of what keeps me motivated.
What advice would you give to a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school?
Take that first step. Even if you think you might regret it. I have found that more often than not, I regret the things I don’t do, not the things I try.
TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?
Going to school at all is a risk for me. Not only a financial risk, but it’s a risk of if I’ll be able to mix it in with my already busy schedule. It’s absolutely a risk worth taking because I have learned so much and gained so many enriching experiences. School is not for everyone but if it’s something you’re considering it’s a risk worth taking.
