Thomas R. Simenson, MBA in Healthcare Administration student
Current occupation: Director of Operations
What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?
I had a good job as a pharmacist, but I had been working in retail pharmacy for almost 17 years. I wanted to advance out of retail and I knew that an MBA would put me in a position to do that.
Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?
I researched a lot of universities. Everyone at Tiffin was so fast to answer my questions. I made my decision to study here because Tiffin was affordable, had the program I wanted, and showed genuine interest in me!

What has been your experience with the program so far?
I have enjoyed this program tremendously. As with classes at any school, some are more difficult than others, but I’ve learned something new and useful in every class I’ve taken. The teaching staff is wonderful, and all have their unique styles and lessons. Some classes are very writing-intensive, while others focus on a project. Most all of them use a discussion format so that all students get to interact.
What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?
I will be totally honest by saying that this program has taken me longer than I anticipated at the beginning. However, when I needed some time off, Tiffin worked with me and allowed me to restart classes when I was able to. With two more classes after this session, I will soon be a graduate!
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about going back to school?
Going back to school is worth it. Even though I hadn’t completed my degree yet, I believe that I was hired into my current position in part because I was in the process of pursuing my MBA. In addition to keeping your brain working, taking classes as an adult puts learning in a different perspective. It’s something you want to do. Not something you need to do. It will definitely put you ahead of the crowd!
