What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?
Since I was young, it has been a dream of mine to continue my education to the graduate level. After beginning my career in the mental health field, I knew I wanted to expand upon my learning to increase my opportunities within the field, continue my passion for learning, and reach the goals that I had established during my youth.
Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?
Tiffin University made the application process quick, inviting, and worry-free. The advising staff guided me throughout each step of the application and made me feel at home from the moment I started showing interest in the program. Knowing there was a professional team who was just as excited about my learning adventure as I was made me excited to call Tiffin University home.
What has been your experience with the program so far? What has your experience been with the teaching staff in the program?
The past two years have been a blessed journey, and I am excited to graduate with my Masters of Science in Psychology in May. All of the promises made to me by the faculty and staff in regard to my experience here at Tiffin have been fulfilled. I have enjoyed all of my professors and have gotten to know many of them on a personal level. The teaching staff has consistently supported me in my educational pursuits, including with multiple research projects, helping me to feel like I have professional guidance walking beside me in my path toward reaching my goals. Plus, the online format of the program has allowed me to support my husband who is in the United States military as I have been able to join him in his service location; for this alone, I am extremely grateful.
What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?
My husband and my family are my biggest motivations for staying in the program. In continuing and completing the program here at Tiffin, it is my hope that I will be able to assist in providing for our loved ones while aiming to achieve the professional dreams I have established that are resultant of my newfound knowledge from the program.
What advice would you give to a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school?
To a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school, I would encourage you to explore all of the opportunities that are available to you. Tiffin offers a variety of programs that can be beneficial to jump-starting a career or building upon one that has already been started. Meditate on what you are hoping to gain from an academic program and if you have a specific career field in mine, learn of any potential education and/or licensure requirements that might be necessary for your dream position. Then, use all of your research to make the decision that is best for you and your family.
TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?
Beginning the program was a risk within itself. When I started, I was unsure if I had the strength or the knowledge to successfully complete the program, but with the guidance from my professors, the advising staff at Tiffin, and the support from my loving husband, family, and friends, my dreams have been able to come true. Without risk, there is no gain.
