What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?
I have always had a love of learning and higher education but what cemented going back for me is my two daughters. I want them to realize they too can do it all: have a career and a family and still make time to better your own education.
Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?
The course load was interesting to me. When I first applied, I was immediately contacted by an Admissions counselor that helped guide me through the program and explain what was expected. After being out of school for nearly 20 years, I needed this hand-holding and it helped to make the decision to attend Tiffin that much easier.
What has been your experience with the program so far?
I am about 2 years into the program. The support and guidance that you receive is amazing. All of those years ago when I was working on my Bachelor’s degree, you were kind of thrown to the wolves and had to fend for yourself. I’ve never had that issue at Tiffin and know that I can reach out for help any time I need it, whether it’s from my advisor or my professors.
What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?
Again, my daughters. I mentioned a few months ago that I was going to stop taking classes, I just didn’t feel like I had the time or motivation to continue but they were upset with that decision. As a result, I’m still here and hopefully have only a few more classes to complete. I look forward to the day when I can finish the degree and make my daughters proud of me.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about going back to school?
Just do it! An education is one thing they can never take from you. Look into tuition reimbursement from your employer and even if you only take a few classes a year, it will be worth it.
