Allee Cieska, MBA Student
Current occupation: Senior Human Resources Specialist
What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?
I’ve always wanted to further my career and knew receiving my MBA would put me in the right direction.
Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?
I chose to study at Tiffin University to further my career. I grew up in Ohio and have always heard great things about the University. Tiffin University is also an accredited school so I knew this university was a wise decision.
What has been your experience with the program so far?
The program has been an amazing experience. I work full time so taking online classes that fit my schedule was very important to me. I have been able to work during the day and study at night which gives me a great balance. I was always skeptical that I wouldn’t be able to communicate with professors by taking online classes. My professors have been the best part of the program. They’re willing to help students even outside of their office hours.
What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?
I’m motivated to stay in the program because I know it will lead to better opportunities in the future.
TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?
Right after receiving my undergraduate degree I studied to obtain my Professional in Human Resources certification. I studied for many months, attended a few courses and was still very nervous. I actually failed my certification when I first took the exam. I knew I couldn’t let this defeat me. I studied harder for the next exam window and passed. Obtaining my certification has allowed me to work at a company that supports and values it along with my decision to go back and receive my MBA. I could have given up he first time but I went ahead because I knew I had to proceed.
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about going back to school?
Going back to school was the best decision that I’ve made. It will give me opportunities that I wouldn’t have been able to do without a degree. The one piece of advice is to make sure you have time and plan accordingly for school. School can be time consuming so if you want to be dedicated, you need to put the time and effort into it.
