What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?

Pursuing my degree as an adult was a deliberate and deeply personal decision. Life and professional responsibilities taught me discipline, resilience, and the value of long-term goals. As an active-duty U.S. Navy, I learned that growth does not stop with age it accelerates when paired with purpose. Returning to higher education allowed me to challenge myself intellectually, honor commitments I made to my family, and prove that persistence and hard work can overcome any obstacle.

Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?

I chose Tiffin University because of its strong commitment to applied learning, leadership development, and student-centered education. TU values experience as much as theory, which strongly aligned with my professional background and academic goals. From the faculty support to the program structure, Tiffin provided an environment where I could grow as a scholar, a leader, and a professional. It is a university I am proud to represent.

Describe your experience with the program so far.

My experience has been extremely positive. I was pleasantly surprised by how engaged and accessible the faculty are, even in an online setting. The academic rigor challenged me in the best way and pushed me to refine my research and critical-thinking skills. The technology platforms were intuitive and reliable, which made balancing coursework with professional responsibilities manageable and efficient.

The faculty have been supportive, responsive, and genuinely invested in student success. Their mentorship and feedback have been invaluable. My cohort has been equally inspiring diverse professionals who bring real-world perspectives into every discussion. The collaborative environment fostered both academic growth and professional respect, making the learning experience richer and more meaningful.

How are you juggling work, life and going back to school? Any tips?

Balancing work, family, and school requires discipline, structure, and clear priorities. I approach my schedule with the same mindset I use in the military planning ahead, staying organized, and remaining adaptable. My advice to others is simple: stay committed, communicate openly with your support system, and remember why you started. Consistency and purpose make even the busiest schedules manageable.

What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?

My motivation comes from a strong sense of purpose. I am driven by personal growth, academic excellence, and the desire to set an example for others. My family, particularly during challenging times, draws strength from my achievements. Knowing that my education has a broader impact beyond myself keeps me focused and determined.

What advice would you give to a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school?

Do not let fear or timing stop you. Growth begins the moment you decide to invest in yourself. Education is not about perfection it is about commitment and resilience. If you are willing to work hard, stay disciplined, and believe in your potential, returning to school can be one of the most rewarding decisions you ever make.

TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?

One of the biggest risks I took was returning to graduate school while serving on active duty. Balancing demanding work hours with rigorous academic expectations required sacrifice and perseverance. The reward was profound academic success, personal growth, and the confidence that comes from pushing beyond perceived limits. That risk reaffirmed my belief that meaningful progress is only possible when we challenge ourselves.
