What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?
I wanted to pursue my degree because I became passionate about my career in criminal justice and the mission of the prison system. I want to do my part in reducing recidivism and making society a safer place.
Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?
I chose Tiffin University because one of my college professors from another school praised Tiffin University and I decided to check out the courses that were offered. I was fascinated with the different courses that were offered and decided to change universities and it was the best decision I could have made!
Describe your experience with the program so far.
I have had a great experience with Tiffin University and I love how passionate and interactive the staff are with the students. They are always there to assist and provide the best knowledge and advice.
How has your experience been with your cohort and faculty?
I participate in the online program while I work full-time and, while it is stressful, the professors never fail to support and reach out to assist in whatever I may need.
How are you juggling work, life, and going back to school? Any tips?
Juggling work, family, and school is extremely challenging but, I know it will be worth it in the long run. Time management and balancing your social life are key to success. It will be difficult but, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Just communicate with your professors and do the best that you can do!
What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?
What keeps me motivated to stay in the program is my pride. I want to make everyone around me proud and accomplishing my bachelor’s degree, and master’s degree, while working a full-time job, is a great accomplishment that I want to complete.
What advice would you give to a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school?
Do it! Whatever your situation may be, there is help. Communication and putting in the effort to be successful can get you a long way. Just reach out and see what options are available to you!
TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?
One risk that I recently took is taking a promotion within the department of corrections. This promotion requires me to commute farther with longer hours. While this is a stressful move for myself, I know it will be beneficial for me in the long run and if anything, has pushed me to be better.
