2026 Doctoral Residency Weekend
Immersive, On-campus Experience
The residency is an immersive, on-campus experience designed specifically for Tiffin University’s doctoral students. It provides an opportunity to connect face-to-face with faculty and peers, engage in intensive workshops, and advance research and dissertation progress. This in-person component is an important part of the doctoral journey, creating academic collaboration, professional growth, and a deeper connection to the TU community.
Who Attends:
Students enrolled in the PhD and DCJ program are required to attend a total of 3 residencies over the course of their degree. Students from all stages of their degree are invited to attend.

Ph.D. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Maggie Broderick
Dr. Maggie Broderick is an Associate Professor at National University, where she serves as a Dissertation Chair, an Academic Program Director, and a Faculty Lead for Social Emotional Learning. She is also the Director of NU’s Advanced Research Center and the Editor of the Journal of Online Graduate Education.
Guiding faculty, staff, students, and alumni in their scholarly pursuits is a major focus of Dr. Broderick’s professional work. Maggie is an active scholar, presenting at many conferences and publishing book chapters and journal articles, often in collaboration with colleagues and former students. She also serves as a scholarly peer reviewer, a content expert writing curriculum, and a provider of professional development activities.
Her leadership roles in higher education have included serving as a Curriculum Director and in related positions, working across departments, schools, and other facets of the university. Dr. Broderick received her Ph.D. in Foreign Language Education at the University of Pittsburgh and her BS (Music Education) and MS (Education) degrees at Duquesne University. She has over 20 years of experience in the field of Education, including 8 years of teaching experience in the Pittsburgh Public Schools and additional PK-12 and higher education teaching experience in various teaching contexts. Dr. Broderick lives in Pittsburgh, PA with her family and is passionate about teaching and learning at all levels.
DCJ Keynote Speaker: Dr. Bradford Beyer
Bradford J. Beyer retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in 2023 after 27 years of service. During his time with the FBI, Dr. Beyer served as a Special Agent in the Newark, Detroit, and Washington, DC field offices and investigated a wide array of criminal and national security matters. He also served as a certified FBI Polygraph Examiner for 18 years and a certified FBI Crisis Negotiator for 8 years.
Dr. Beyer holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, a Certificate of Graduate Study in the Psychophysiological Detection of Deception, a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychophysiology, and a Doctorate in Psychology with a Forensic Specialization.
Dr. Beyer is also a contributing faculty member teaching Criminal Justice matters at Walden University. He has also provided legal consultation and expert witness services regarding issues relating to interviewing & interrogation, false confessions, and polygraph. Dr. Beyer has researched, published, and provided instruction on a variety of issues to include polygraph, interviewing and interrogation, false confessions, crisis negotiation, forensic psychophysiology, and a variety of forensic psychology and criminal justice topics. At present, he also owns and operates Federal Polygraph Investigations (FPI), a private polygraph company offering polygraph testing services throughout the State of Michigan.

- How many residencies are required?
- Doctoral students are required to participate in at least 3 residencies before graduation. Tiffin University hosts a residency every year in the spring. Depending on your program, there are other activities that count towards your residency total as well.
- If you are unable to attend for any reason, be sure you plan ahead/accordingly so you are able to attend 3 residencies before you graduate.

COVID GUIDELINES
Students, faculty, staff, and visitors are no longer required to wear masks indoors while on campus, but remain free to do so at their discretion. TU remains in support of those who choose to continue masking no matter their reasoning.
