What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?

I decided to pursue my degree as an adult because I always wanted to be Dr. Katy. Along with that I was interested in expanding my knowledge to allow more opportunities in my career.

Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?

I chose Tiffin University because I had not seen another PhD program like this one, and after learning more about it, I felt it was a good fit for me. I also appreciate that it is mostly online and allows me to continue working in my current position.

Describe your experience with the program so far.

My experience so far has been very positive. Prior to starting the program I was a very anxious about what it would be like. However, there was nothing for me to be anxious about and with good time management I have found the program to be challenging but manageable. I have had no problems navigating the technology within the program.

How has your experience been with your cohort and faculty?

I have found the professors to be very helpful and accommodating when life can get in the way. Though there isn’t a cohort, I have interacted with many others within the program and have found them also to be extremely helpful.

How are you juggling work, life and going back to school? Any tips?

I have to schedule my time for each class I am taking. I also make sure to schedule time for family and doing fun things to make sure I am taking care of myself. I find with good time management it is possible to juggle all of my responsibilities.

What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?

I find each class to be really interesting and I keep learning new things. I also find each class continues to build towards my eventual dissertation and this keeps me motivated to finish.

What advice would you give to a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school?

It is going to be challenging; however, with a good plan it is manageable and worth it.

TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?

Starting this program was a risk, I was nervous and felt it may not be the right time. However, there is no right time and I have never regretted my decision to go back to school to pursue my PhD.
