What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?

Completing my degree as an adult became part of my goals after life events that prevented me from continuing education after receiving my Associate’s Degree in 1996. In addition, I wanted to be an example to my son and daughter, who were starting their college journey.

Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?

Tiffin’s Managerial Studies program aligned with my goal of obtaining knowledge that would equip me for a career in management.

Describe your experience with the program so far.

The program was challenging at times, however, those challenges improved my understanding of critical thinking. Entering college as an adult made me anxious, as so many things in education had changed since I was last in school. Once I understood how to use the technology my stress level decreased.

Describe your interactions with your cohort and faculty?

The faculty addressed all areas that made me anxious about returning to school as an adult. Helping me adjust to using technology required as an online student, while being supportive as I strived to maintain balance with work, school and family.

How are you juggling work, life, and going back to school? Any tips?

Commit mentally to maintaining balance, develop a structure, and understand organization is vital to your success.

What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?

Self-motivation and determination to achieve the goals that I have set for myself is what kept me motivated to stay in the program.

What advice would you give to a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school?

Learning has no expiration date. It’s never too late to gain education that motivates, inspires, and increases your marketability.

TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?

I accepted a challenging position shortly after I enrolled in Tiffin. The challenges made it difficult to meet department expectations; however, I was able to exceed expectations, gaining me a promotion.
