What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?

From a young age, I was uncertain about my career path. However, after dedicating over six years to working in community health centers, I have discovered a deep passion for serving underserved populations and positively impacting my community. To further my efforts and take on a more significant leadership role, I am committed to earning a bachelor’s degree, which is essential for advancing my career and broadening my ability to make a difference.

Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?

I chose to study at Tiffin University because I have fond memories of spending time in the nearby town of Bascom every year growing up, which gave me a positive connection to Tiffin itself. The university’s program perfectly aligned with my academic and career goals, and I was particularly impressed by the online platform they use to deliver classes, offering both flexibility and a great learning experience.

Describe your experience with the program so far.

My experience with the program at Tiffin University has been overwhelmingly positive so far. The curriculum has been well-structured, and the instructors are both engaging and supportive. One thing that surprised me was how seamlessly the online platform works; I was initially anxious about adapting to online learning, but the technology has been incredibly user-friendly and intuitive. The smooth integration of resources, discussions, and assignments has made it easy to stay on track. Although I had some concerns about time management and balancing school with other responsibilities, the program’s flexibility has allowed me to manage my schedule effectively.

My interactions with the faculty at Tiffin University have been encouraging and supportive. The professors are knowledgeable, approachable, and always willing to offer guidance, whether through virtual office hours, email, or discussion boards. They genuinely care about student success and provide constructive feedback that has helped me grow academically. As for my cohort, the sense of community is strong despite being in an online program. My peers come from diverse professional backgrounds, and our discussions are enriching, offering a range of perspectives. We’ve developed a collaborative environment where we share ideas, challenge each other, and provide support. This connection has made the experience much more engaging and motivating.

How are you juggling work, life and going back to school? Any tips?

Balancing work, family, and school has certainly been a challenge, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding. The key for me has been effective time management and setting clear priorities. I plan my week in advance, allocating specific blocks of time for studying, family activities, and work commitments. Staying organized and breaking larger tasks into smaller, manageable pieces has helped reduce stress and keep me focused. For anyone feeling nervous about handling it all, my advice is to give yourself grace and take things one step at a time. Don’t hesitate to ask for help when needed, whether from family, friends, or professors. Also, take advantage of the flexibility online programs offer, and remember that progress, no matter how small, is still progress. Finding a routine that works for you is essential, and maintaining open communication with those around you can make the journey much smoother.

What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?

What keeps me motivated to stay in the program is my passion for making a difference in the healthcare field and the opportunity to advance my career. I see this degree as a crucial step toward reaching my goals of serving underserved communities and taking on a more significant leadership role. Additionally, the support from my family, peers, and faculty at Tiffin University provides encouragement when things get challenging. Knowing that each class and assignment brings me closer to achieving my long-term vision fuels my determination to keep pushing forward, even when juggling multiple responsibilities.

What advice would you give to a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school?

My advice to a prospective student considering going back to school is to embrace the journey with confidence and a clear sense of purpose. It’s natural to feel hesitant, especially if you’re balancing other responsibilities, but remember that it’s never too late to invest in yourself and your future. Break down your goals into manageable steps and stay organized—this will make the process feel less overwhelming. Don’t be afraid to lean on the support systems around you, whether it’s family, friends, or faculty. Online programs, like the one at Tiffin University, offer flexibility, making it possible to succeed even with a busy schedule. Ultimately, believe in your ability to adapt and grow. The challenges are worth it, and the rewards of personal and professional growth are invaluable.

TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?

A significant risk I took was deciding to pursue my education while maintaining my job and family commitments. Initially, the idea of juggling these responsibilities felt daunting, and I worried about whether I could manage the workload. However, I recognized that advancing my education was essential for my career aspirations in community health. Taking this leap of faith has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve gained not only new knowledge and skills relevant to my field but also a greater sense of confidence in my ability to handle challenges. This experience has taught me resilience and time management, and it has strengthened my passion for serving underserved populations. Ultimately, stepping out of my comfort zone has opened doors for personal and professional growth that I never thought possible.
