What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?

I decided to pursue my BA Psychology degree because I wanted to have a career that was not only financially rewarding but mentally and emotionally fulfilling as well.

Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?

I initially chose to study at Tiffin because I graduated from Cuyahoga Community College in Cleveland, OH and I knew my credits would transfer over. However, Tiffin seemed to also be more affordable in offering the courses I needed to obtain my degree.

Describe your experience with the program so far.

My experience at TU and with the program has been amazing. The technology has been easy to use and if there are any technological issues, TU’s IT team does well at communicating those issues right away.

Wow! That sums it up. My professors have been exceptional as well as the academic and financial aid advisors. They’ve all shown great patience in working with me and they’ve all played a great part in my success.

How are you juggling work, life and going back to school? Any tips?

The key phrase is time management and yes, it can be done. I have a lot of responsibility between work, family, and my personal life so learning how to successfully manage my time was a process but it is certainly a skill worth having.

What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?

There are a couple of things that keep me motivated. One is the end goal of receiving my degree and pursuing my career goals. The other thing that keeps me motivated is my overall positive college experience. I believe when students aren’t surrounded by professors and other faculty members who show a genuine interest in their success, they tend to not do as well. That’s not the case at TU. They care.

What advice would you give to a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school?

DO IT!!!!! It was a little scary in the beginning but it is now one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Do it, and lean on the resources that are made available to you as they are plentiful.

TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?

Actually, going back to school as an adult was a risk for me. As I previously mentioned, I have a full schedule already, with work, family and other responsibilities, so I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to manage going to school. However, I wanted something more for my life. I fought the idea of going back to school for quite some time and then I started to do the research. Once I made the final decision and got started, I gained so much including knowledge, confidence, maturity, and time-management skills. I also feel that through the different courses, I’ve been able to enhance my level of professionalism and sharpen my critical thinking skills.
