Embark on Successful and Purposeful Careers
Our mission at Tiffin University’s career services is to empower students with the knowledge, skills and resources to embark on successful and purposeful careers. We achieve this through:
- Major Exploration: Our office utilizes self-assessment tools paired with major and career-specific research to help students decide on the right majors and career paths in alignment with their ultimate professional goals.
- Resume Writing & Development: Whether they’re just getting started or have a nearly finalized draft, we help create and/or update resumes to meet current industry standards and perform better in recruitment processes.
- Cover Letter Writing: Our office assists students and alumni in drafting unique cover letters tailored to the positions for which they are making application – bringing them one step closer to landing their dream jobs.
- Interviewing: Career Services offers meeting types centered around either offering general interviewing tips & techniques, or formal mock interview sessions, where we pose questions we’ve created using real-world job descriptions from roles in the student’s chosen field.
- Job Search: We guide students through the process of connecting with employers, searching for relevant positions online, tracking applications and much more. We also assist with salary negotiations once official job offers are on the table.
- Graduate School Research & Applications: For students interested in continuing their studies to reach future career goals, we offer assistance in researching programs that support these intended outcomes, and with creating the documents needed for the application process.
- Handshake: Handshake is Tiffin University’s online job board for on-campus jobs, internships and career opportunities. Enrolled students automatically get access to this platform and may use it to assist in job and/or internship searches, as well as networking.
- Post-Graduation Planning: As students prepare to finish their journeys, they can meet with us to create a formal plan of action for entering the workforce.
- Dragon Armoire: Students can select a free outfit from our professional clothing closet for an interview, internship, career fair, research conference or for their first day on the job. The best part? They get to keep it!
- Career Fairs & Events: Students may attend one of our many career fairs for additional networking practice and to grow their roster of professional contacts – that could someday be leveraged to obtain real opportunities.
Most of our services are offered through one-on-one appointments tailored to meet each student’s needs. However, we do host over 40 group events both large and small each year – all geared toward enhancing career readiness competencies in alignment with the National Association of Colleges and Employer’s (NACE’s) teachings.
