What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?
Pursuing my degree as an adult was a dream I have carried with me for over 30 years. I started my degree many years ago, and then life took me down many different paths. I raised my family and had to overcome personal challenges. Through it all, the desire to further my education never left me. Returning to school was not just a career decision, it was a personal promise I made years ago. Through my journey earning my degree at Tiffin University, I am fully embracing that it is never too late to grow, learn, and follow my dreams.
Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?
I chose to study at Tiffin University because it aligned perfectly with my personal and professional goals. I needed a university that understands the challenges nontraditional students face. The flexible program structure, designed for working adults and nontraditional students, allows me to balance my studies with my other life responsibilities.
Describe your experience with the program so far.
My experience with the program has been very rewarding. I was anxious at the beginning of my program, I was not sure what to expect. The professors and faculty made a big difference in helping me feel like I belong at Tiffin University. The technology is much easier to navigate than I had anticipated. The online platform is user-friendly and there is support readily available.
My interactions with the faculty and my cohorts at Tiffin University have been incredibly positive and uplifting. The Faculty genuinely cares about our academic performance. Their feedback is personalized and professional, I always feel like I am learning from professionals who are truly invested in my future.
My cohorts have been so supportive throughout this journey. Being a part of a group of like-minded individuals who are also balancing work, family, and school, there is a strong sense of connection and shared purpose.
How are you juggling work, life and going back to school? Any tips?
Juggling work, family, and school had been a challenge at times, but it is also one of the most empowering things I have done. the key to have time management and set realistic expectations, staying organized, and giving myself grace with things that are not perfect.
What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?
What keeps me motivated is knowing I am walking in the direction of a dream I have carried for over 30 years. Every assignment, discussion, and course brings me closer to my goals and my dreams. I have to stay focused and remind myself of the person I am becoming and the life I hope to impact I the future.
What advice would you give to a prospective student who is thinking about going back to school?
My biggest piece of advice is, do not let fear or self-doubt keep you from pursuing your goals and dreams. It is never too late to go back to school. You might wonder if you are too old, too busy, or too far removed from academics. It is never too late to invest in yourself.
TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?
One of the biggest risks is going back to school. I have a stable career, but deep down, I knew I had to follow my goals and dreams to finish my degree. I have gained so much more than a degree;I have found self-confidence in myself, clarity in my calling, and support from people who believed that I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. Most of all, I have proven to myself that it is never too late to change your path and follow your passion.
