I am the “go-to” person for Tiffin University MBA students from the U.S. More than an academic advisor, I help students with registration, dropping and adding classes and finding campus resources. I’m like a general problem solver who helps them be successful in an online learning environment.
This job is ideal for me because from 2010 to 2013, I worked in higher education as a success coach for online students. Helping them solve problems and persevere in class paved the way for me becoming an advisor. I also earned my MBA at TU and have real-world experience with the classes and many of the professors. Besides all that, I love helping people! My undergraduate degree is in social work and now I have a chance to really assist people, help them better themselves and celebrate their accomplishments.
Because I work in higher education, people often ask me about going back to school later in life. I always say there may never be a perfect time, so just do it! I tell them to get in there and not be intimidated by the work. All it takes is a plan each week to find time to get it all done. Everyone is always so happy when they have that diploma in hand. It’s worth it!
As much as I love my work, I do have another life. I have a son who is in his senior year of high school and I enjoy hiking, reading and yoga.
