Current occupation: Undergraduate Admissions Counselor

What made you decide to pursue your degree as an adult?

I am always looking for a challenge and an ability to leverage my experience with more education. A Masters Degree was almost always an expectation of mine.

Why did you choose to study at Tiffin University?

I chose to study at Tiffin University to extend the amazing experience and education I had in my undergrad career even further. I could not imagine having a different community of support, circle of friends and group of professors mentor and teach me. My mom always said that if it isn’t broken, no need to fix it; I found this phrase to be so true when choosing a masters program!

What has been your experience with the program so far?

So far, my time at TU as an adult has been even better than expected! Students in my cohort have already began to get to know each other, help and encourage one another. That is awesome considering we only meet once a week! The teaching staff is so knowledgeable, approachable and treat you like family.

What keeps you motivated to stay in the program?

The little victories that come with the program are so motivating. Ultimately the degree itself is immensely motivating!

What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about going back to school?

I can not stress enough how beneficial going back to school will be for you! You will see the world, your peers, your schedule, yourself, etc. in such a different more positive light when you go back to school.

TU’s motto is: Without risk there is no gain. Can you tell us about a time when you took a risk and what you gained from it?

I took a risk in 2014 by deciding to drive over nine hours, leaving my family in Missouri to attend Tiffin. This adventure has paid off tenfold for me. I not only have so much more of a value for my family and home but have been able to grow independently and forge my own path. It was risky to uproot but I have gained so many professional and personal connections, a heart for a new community and a passion to serve the under-served. Thanks TU!
